The Atlantic Profiles 86th Street Subway Performer Who Went Viral For His Adele Covers

His moving renditions of Adele’s “Someone Like You” turned him into a YouTube sensation, but few know that Damon C. Scott — a subway performer frequently spotted singing his heart out on 86th Street — recently made it big as a vocalist on the hit house music track “Look Right Through” by Storm Queen. Though the song was #1 in the UK in 2013, Scott still performs in subways and has remained largely anonymous to his straphanger audiences.

In this video, published on The Atlantic’s website, filmmaker Emily Sheskin zooms in on the artist to learn more about how he landed the gig, how he feels about his newfound fame, and his plans for the future. Check it out.
