Give Your Resume A Facelift

What: Is your resume looking a little tired? Head over to the Park Slope Library Tuesday evenings where volunteers will be on hand to help you bring it back to life.

78th Precinct Community Council Meeting
When: Tuesday, November 26, 7:30pm
Where: 78th Precinct
What: This is the last Community Council meeting of 2013 — they’re open to the public, and it’s a great way to learn some of what’s going on in the neighborhood, and to bring up concerns of your own.
Forty-Five Candles: An Evening of Fiction in Which John Hughes Characters Grow The F*ck Up
When: Wednesday, November 27, 8pm (Doors 7:30pm)
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: You could stay at home with the family to watch a John Hughes movie (Planes, Trains & Automobiles seems the obvious choice), or you could all head out to join Joe Garden as he hosts a night of fiction based on characters from those films nearly 30 years later!
How much: Tickets are $7, available in advance
Chess
When: Friday, November 29, 4pm
Where: Central Library, Art & Music division (3rd Fl), 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Need to escape the family for a bit? Just looking for a chance to build your chess expertise? All skill levels welcome to stop by for a game.

Karaoke Killed The Cat
When: Friday, November 29, 11:59pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: As of Friday, it’s officially okay to pick Christmas songs.

Festive Fifth
When: Saturday, November 30, 6:30-9pm
Where: 5th Avenue from between Dean and 18th Streets
What: See a tree-lighting ceremony, drink free hot chocolate, meet Santa, and support local shops on Small Business Saturday.
How much: Free!
The Rub
When: Saturday, November 30, 10pm
Where: The Bell House, 149 7th Street
What: Do the mashed potato after eating a second helping of mashed potatoes! If you plan ahead to go to this dance party, that plate of delicious, but calorie-heavy, Thanksgiving dinner may not make you feel so guilty.
How much: Tickets available at the door, $10 before midnight, $15 after
Morning Bird Walk: Twelve Birds of Winter
When: Sunday, December 1, 8am
Where: Prospect Park, meet at the Audubon Center
What: Or if dancing’s not your thing, walk off that extra slice of pumpkin pie you and learn about some of the birds that spend the winter in our big backyard on this tour with the Brooklyn Bird Club.
How much: Free!
The Kid Brother
When: Sunday, December 1, 1pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: A screening of the silent film starring Harold Lloyd as a male-Cinderella, with live piano accompaniment by Bernie Anderson, and hosted by Ken Gordon.
