Thanks To Colton, Mess Of The Week Gets Cleaned Up

66th and Bay Parkway on September 19
The same spot yesterday

We were contacted yesterday by Assemblyman William Colton’s office, who informed us that the corner of 66th Street and Bay Parkway, which we posted about earlier this week, has been cleared of refuse.

Reader Grace O. graciously scoped out the spot and captured the above photo, which shows the area free of discarded furniture and household garbage.

While we’d love to take credit for the cleanup, the assemblyman’s office told us it was the result of a constituent’s phone call.

Oh well. Victory has a thousand fathers…

Assemblyman Colton has also taken the issue of neighborhood beautification to the streets with volunteers from local high schools, who help clean our parks and streets, despite some less than favorable reactions from ungrateful passerby.

This spot was taken care of by NYC Sanitation workers

Regardless of why Sanitation got to this mess, it certainly qualifies as a check in the win column for the quality of life in our neighborhood.

Bensonhurst Bean would like to thank Assemblyman William Colton, his staff, as well as New York’s Strongest for getting the job done.

Assemblyman William Colton represents Assembly District 47, which includes Bensonhurst, as well as parts of Gravesend and Midwood
