Earlier this week, a Midwood-based LLC filed applications to build a four-story apartment building on an empty lot at 62 Martense Street, between Bedford and Flatbush Avenues, reports YIMBY.

The building would hold 10 apartments at an average of 951 square feet, but developers haven’t decided on condos or rentals — the decision could depend on potential changes to the 421-a tax abatement, writes the real estate site.

Though small, the rendering shows a sleek, modern facade with angled balconies — a design that doesn’t quite match the neighboring brownstones and detached homes on either side.

The site extends through to Church Avenue, where there is currently a mixed-use office building with no demolition permits filed. Pending permit approval, construction on the vacant lot is scheduled to start in spring 2017, reports YIMBY.
