Take Home A Free Tree At Compost For Brooklyn This Week; Volunteers Needed Friday & Sunday
This week, celebrate the arrival of spring with a free tree at Compost for Brooklyn (Newkirk Avenue & E. 8th Street) on Sunday, April 12 from 12-2pm.
Our neighborhood’s lovely community garden needs some helping hands for the event, both for the tree drop-off on Friday, as well as the actual tree giveaway on Sunday. Here’s what’s needed:
- Volunteers on Friday, April 10 from about 7-7:30am (pending the truck’s arrival), when you’ll help unload trees from the truck into Compost for Brooklyn’s garden.
- Volunteers for the tree giveaway on Sunday, April 12 from 11:30am-2:30pm. There are three time slots available, or you’re welcome to volunteer for the entire time as well. Volunteers will be asked to help set up and get the event going, give trees away, and help with the tree signup paperwork.
To sign up as a volunteer, please go here.
If you’re not able to volunteer but you want your very own free tree, please reserve your tree online here and then go to Compost for Brooklyn from 12-2pm on Sunday to pick it up!
