Two men broke into the apartment on top of a Midwood synagogue, left the caretaker beaten and bloody, and robbed the place on Sunday before sunrise, said cops.

The suspects beat the 53-year-old victim in the face with a metal garden tool in his home above the Chabad Synagogue Beth Menachem Mendel, around 5am on April 16, police said. The synagogue sits on Avenue J at the corner of East 17th Street.

The suspects stole the caretaker’s cellphone, laptop, and $300, according to officials. And after forcing him to open the synagogue, they fled with cash from the synagogue’s charity box.

The victim was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center.

The brutal assault left a trail of blood on the synagogue floor, according to City Council Member David Greenfield on News 12. Greenfield is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the capture.
