One Brooklynite’s trash is another one’s treasure, so this month, in honor of Earth Day/Week/Month, check out the Stop ‘N’ Swap community reuse event on Thursday, April 23 from 12-3pm at the Borough Hall Greenmarket.

The event is hosted by GrowNYC and allows people to bring portable, reusable (and clean and intact) items such as books, toys, housewares or kitchenware, electronics, and “fashionable clothing” to a central location where they can then see if there’s anything that catches their eye, as well.

Donations actually begin today (Monday, April 20) through Wednesday, from 8am-7pm each day, at 209 Joralemon Street.

“Stop ‘N’ Swaps are a resource for all New Yorkers. Residents come out in large numbers to give away what they don’t need and find some really useful items for themselves, keeping perfectly good items out of the landfill,” said GrowNYC Executive Director Marcel Van Ooyen. “The added benefit is neighbor meeting neighbor, and a community strengthened.”

Anything leftover at the end of the day is donated or recycled.  Furniture and other large items are not accepted.

So why not do a little spring cleaning while keeping Earth clean at the same time? See you there!
