Suspicious Package Closes Street Near Glenwood & Bedford

The NYPD is investigating a suspicious package at the corner of Glenwood Rd. and Bedford Ave. A neighbor tells us the street has been blocked off.

This is the first incident in the neighborhood since last Tuesday’s bomb scare at Ave. H, but Gothamist points out it’s just a drop in the bucket compared to the 77 suspicious packages reported in the 24 hours after the Boston Marathon bombing. We have reached out to the 70th Precinct, and will keep you updated as we receive more details.

UPDATE 9:52am: Midwood High School is open. The receptionist who answered the phone acknowledged police presence at the intersection of Glenwood and Bedford, but says there’s nothing to worry about.
