Suspect Sketch in Syringe Stabbing

Mark Salandy, 30, a B68 bus driver was stabbed in the shoulder with a syringe at 10:55 a.m. near Greenwood Avenue and Prospect Park Southwest, reports the Daily News.

“He’s really, really upset right now,” said his mother, Karen Lumsden, 45, to the News. “You don’t know if it’s an infected needle, if something was in it. You don’t know.”

Salandy was treated at New York Methodist Hospital, and he’ll need to be on medicines for the next six months and be monitored for infections, relatives said.

The suspect is described as a white male, between the ages of 45 and 50, and approximately 5’9″ tall. If you recognize the suspect in the sketch, the police ask that you call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS, give a tip at their Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES), then enter TIP577. Police say all calls are kept confidential.
