Family members, neighbors and friends are banding together to raise the money that will be needed to post bail for Hassan Razzaq, the 19-year-old Kensington resident who has been charged with killing his abusive father, Mohammad Razzaq, last month.

The new fundraising campaign, which you can find the website for here, aims to raise money to help cover what is expected to be a bail of more than $500,000. The bail will be announced at Hassan’s bail arraignment in about three weeks.

Hassan was indicted on the murder charges last week, devastating family and friends who had hoped for charges to be lessened or dropped against the teen who stabbed his father to end an abusive tirade against him and his family, according to his attorney, Michael Cibella.

The individuals behind the fundraising campaign spoke of the years of abuse Hassan, his siblings and his mother faced:

Hassan Razzaq, a nineteen year old teenager from Brooklyn, NY is being unjustly held in prison for standing up to his sadistic and tyrannical father, Mohammad Razzaq. Mohammad was an abusive monster who tortured his wife and six children physically, sexually, verbally, and mentally for over 13 years.

On the day the elder Razzaq was killed, he had just returned home more than a month early from a failed business trip to Pakistan, and he took his anger out on his children, Hassan’s defense attorney, Michael Cibella said last week.

The New York Post reported:

“The father came home unexpectedly,” said Cibella. “The minute he came through the door, he started assaulting my client and his sister. That’s how he says, ‘I’m back from Pakistan.’”
The 56-year-old brute allegedly pulled the girl by her hair and dragged her across the floor while telling her, “Do you want boys to have sex with you?” because she was wearing shorts he didn’t approve of, Cibella said.

In addition to the abuse that night, those who know Hassan spoke of the years of abuse the teen and his family faced, which, the fundraising website stated, ranged from “daily whippings and shoving heads in the toilet to choking family members to unconsciousness.”
