Support the Billy Weeks Fellowship Program During Its Spring Celebration
After neighbor Bill Weeks lost his son William Robert (Billy) to a rare brain disorder when Billy was just six years old, Bill established a non-profit in his memory to provide college, career, and goal achievement programs to at-risk youth in NYC. The Billy Weeks Fellowship Program is having a fundraising event this month, and Bill’s hoping the neighborhood will come out to support the program.
The inaugural Spring Celebration Fundraising Reception and Auction is scheduled for Thursday, May 24, and will be held at 320 Studios, 320 West 37th Street in Manhattan at 6:30pm.
The event will be hosted by Jeff Spurgeon of the WQXR Classical Radio Morning Show, and will include awarding of the first BWFP College Character Scholarship to Selma Nagaiya from Validus Preparatory Academy, Bronx NY; presenting the BWFP Influential Citizen Award to Olympic speed skater Allison Baver; and a performance by world-renowned jazz musician (and Ditmas Park neighbor) Vincent Herring. There will also be a silent auction during the event, with all proceeds benefiting the BWFP.
The event is open to the public and tickets may be purchased at thebwfp.charityhappenings.org. Advanced ticket purchase is required for admission.
