Sunday: Pasta Night Benefit For Sean Casey Animal Rescue

From our friends at the Knights of Columbus Council #126. They write:

Sean Casey’s Animal Rescue located in Brooklyn, New York is a not for profit organization whose endeavor is to aid unfortunate animals in the interest of a higher quality of life. They take in rescued, confiscated, neglected, injured, ill, unmanageable, or otherwise unwanted animals from private owners, zoos, shelters, and other public organizations. These animals are cared for, and/or rehabilitated to the best of their ability and means until which time they can be found healthy, happy homes – whether it be through adoption to qualified candidates or legally released into habitats suitable to the specific species in conjunction with licensed wildlife rehabilitators.

  1. Sean and his organization do a lot of good. I contacted his office twice in as many weeks about a swan entangled in fishing line with a hook and buoy. I hope they got around to helping it. They are overwhelmed with animals in need. This swan is usually behind IlLfornetto. It would require both land and sea support. Maybe someone at KofC has a small boat to help.  There is another rescue group looking into the situation. I sent Ned Pics a few weeks ago. Sorry to go on but I see an opportunity to save the swan. Sean if it’s been taken care of, TYVM.

  2. Has anyone helped the Swan? I live in Sheepshead Bay and I will help you out. Everyone who knows me know I break for any and all animals in need. In the least we can box it and I can drive it to a rescue (unless it is determined the line can be safety removed without further stress or injury to this poor creature).

  3. I’ll have to check. The problem is it has quick access to the bay. If you would like to have a go at it ask Ned for my # or e-mail. I would meet you there.
There were people on facebook who did go to the site but I don’t know if they were able to help. It did look like it could be freed from the line but boxing it won’t work. They are kinda huge.

  4. I just passed by and the swan is still tangled. The wing is hanging and not being used. For whatever reasons NOONE has helped this poor swan.
