Subway Track Work Causes Street Closures This Weekend & Next
As you may have noticed these past two weekends, MTA crews have been set up on Albemarle Road to replace subway track panels, leaving riders to take shuttle buses to and from Prospect Park. The good news for skeptical neighbors is that, according to a spokesperson for the MTA, this past weekend was, somehow, the last of the shuttle buses for a while.
Q train service should resume this Saturday and Sunday, but this weekend and next, drivers especially will want to keep an eye out for bridge closures as track maintenance continues. Here’s a look at what the MTA has been working on so far:
Crews will be continuing the job from 8am this Friday, March 21 to 9pm on Sunday, March 23, says the MTA’s Marisa Baldeo. Both Beverley Road between Marlborough Road and E 16th Street and Dorchester Road between Marlborough Road and E 16th Street will be closed to accommodate cranes and other large MTA equipment.
Then from 8am on Friday, March 28 to 9pm on Sunday, March 30, Dorchester Road between Marlborough Road and E 16th Street will close again (although Beverley will remain open), and Ditmas Avenue between Marlborough Road and E 16th Street will close as well. It is possible that Ditmas Avenue will be closed between Marlborough and E 16th at a future date as well, but we’ll keep you updated on that.
At the project’s completion, new track panels will have been installed from Church Avenue to Newkirk Avenue. Until then, as mass transit-takers, we’re glad to be ditching the shuttle buses. How did you manage to get around this weekend?
