The Subway Sleeps In Southern Brooklyn This Morning

Storm Stella morning updates: Blizzard warning canceled!

Snowfall predictions have melted this morning, as forecasters are now expecting less than 10 inches with a wintry sleet/snow mix throughout Tuesday, forecasters said — a big downgrade from the 20 doomsday inches predicted yesterday.

However, the morning commute still looks hellish and all-but-impossible for southern Brooklyn. All above-ground MTA subway service was suspended at 4am this morning, which cuts off service to a majority of southern Brooklyn (except those in Bay Ridge on the R line). With limited public transit and no driving (alternate side parking has been suspended for Tuesday and Wednesday) — it sounds like a city-wide snow day!

As 6:45am, buses appeared to be running “All Queens, Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island Limited buses will make local stops,” @NYCTBuses tweeted. Stay updated with MTA service alerts throughout this blizzard day here.
