Stockpile Of Guns, Knives And Machetes Found During Gravesend Drug Raid [Updated]
Two men and a woman were arrested early this morning after cops stormed their Gravesend apartment and seized a large collection of drugs and weapons — including a pair of vicious-looking machetes.
John Cancelleri, 58, Rachel Desalvatore, 48, and Joseph Canale, 16, were taken into custody at 7:45am, and slapped with multiple weapon and drug possession charges, cops said.
After obtaining a warrant, cops from the NYPD’s 62nd Precinct searched the suspects’ apartment located at 1780 West 3rd Street, and found five firearms, eight imitation pistols, one stun gun, two Kevlar bullet-resistant vests, five gravity knives, two large machetes, and a ton of ammunition. Large quantities of marijuana, pills, cash, and other drug paraphernalia were also recovered, said police.
“GREAT POLICE WORK!” boasted the 62nd Precinct on Twitter this morning, including a photo of the seized items. “@NYPD62Pct conduct search warrant in #Bensonhurst and get 5 guns off the street.”
All three were charged with six counts of criminal possession of a weapon, one count of possessing a disguised gun, one count of wearing a body vest, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of marijuana, according to authorities.
Correction [June 27, 2015, 3:30pm]: Police initially identified the suspects as Jihn Cancellar, Rachek Canale, and Joseph Canale, but later amended the spellings of their names to John Cancelleri, Rachel Desalvatore, and Joseph Canale. In addition, police initially said that all three suspects are male, but later confirmed that they are two males and one female. The post has been amended to reflect these corrections.
