Early Tuesday morning a 58-year-old white male drove onto the Verrazano Bridge from the Brooklyn end, abandoned his car on the span’s lower level, and jumped over the edge.

Surveillance footage captured him jumping.

As of Thursday, his body has not been found, despite a police investigation of the surrounding waters.

Unfortunately, the Verrazano has been the site of numerous suicides in recent years, including a horrible 2014 incident where a Staten Island man stabbed his wife and, leaving her in critical condition on the span, jumped to his death.

Just last month, a dead man was discovered near the Verrazano Bridge in New York Harbor, although it was unclear if he had jumped from the span and if it was a suicide.
