Steiner Studios hopes to bring in the new year with six new soundstages — all in one new, three-story, 179,000-square-foot building that they are hoping to build on the Williamsburg side of their border, along Kent Avenue. If approved by the Department of Buildings, the new building would have room for workshops, a cafeteria, dressing/hair-and-makeup-/wardrobe rooms, and production offices.

It would also join the Studios’ planned $300 million 54-story residential tower at 33 Schermerhorn Street and a $137 million renovation of the Navy Hospital Annex into a media campus as developments for 2016.

In addition to being the East Coast’s largest film and TV production studios, Steiner Studios also recently became home to Brooklyn College’s Barry Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema.
