Stabbed Man’s Body Found In Alley Near Prospect Park, Police Say
NYPD officers found the body of a Flatbush man stabbed in the chest on Sunday; the body was found in an alley just blocks from the Parade Grounds, according to police reports.
At 10pm on July 24, police discovered a 32-year-old man in an alleyway near 68 St. Paul’s Place between Crooke and Caton Avenues, unconscious and bleeding from a stab wound in his chest, say cops. The victim was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead one hour later.
The 70th precinct officers who discovered the body were responding to a 911 call from near the building, said a police spokesperson. The investigation is ongoing, including whether the man was stabbed inside or outside the building.
So far in 2016, three stabbings have been reported in the few block radius near the Parade Grounds — a young man stabbed his stepfather in an East 19th Street apartment earlier in July; a teenage boy was stabbed in the back on Westminster Road in May; and a young woman was fatally stabbed in a building on Clarkson Avenue, also in May, marking the first murder in the 70th precinct in 2016.
In May we reported that homicides are down in the first half of 2016 relative to last year, according to crime statistics in the 70th precinct.
We will continue to report on this story as more information is released.
