Springfest at Erasmus

Springfest at Erasmus

Have you always wanted to check out the insides of the historic Erasmus Hall Campus? This weekend is your chance! Public Art for Public Schools, the NYC School Construction Authority, and the NYC Department of Education are hosting Springfest, a free 2-day festival on Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, from 10am to 4pm at Erasmus.

You’ll get to tour the school’s amazing collection of stained glass artwork dating to the early 1900s, try out some art workshops, see health and wellness demonstrations, live music, hands-on percussion lessons, performances, and more.

The stained glass is in need of conservation, so if you’ve seen it, or are going to see it this weekend, consider taking a step to help it get preserved. The school is one of 40 in the running for a grant from Partners in Preservation, and if Erasmus wins it, they plan to use it to help restore four windows. The grant is determined by the public’s vote, and you can vote once a day through May 21–here’s where you can cast yours.

Thanks to Brenda for the tip!
