South Slope Weekend Events Spotlight: June 25-28
Looking for something to do this weekend? With everything from free yoga and ’90s pop, to rowboats and incredible music, you won’t have to go far for fun. Below are some of our favorite events from around the neighborhood.

Yoga In The Park
When: Thursday, June 25, 7-8pm
Where: Long Meadow, Prospect Park
What: Stretch out with Bend & Bloom, lululemon Brooklyn, and the Prospect Park Alliance this summer, as they host a FREE yoga session every Thursday, through September 10. Enter at Grand Army Plaza, and the group will be at the north end of Long Meadow. Note that you should bring your own mat.

Celebrate Brooklyn!: Lucinda Williams
When: Thursday, June 25, 7:30-10:30pm
Where: Prospect Park Bandshell, Prospect Park West at 9th Street
What: With a set that “careens from stripped down acoustic ballads to rambling electrified country-blues stomps,” you won’t want to miss the great Lucinda Williams at this Thursday’s Celebrate Brooklyn!
How much: Free.
Chess Club For Teens And Adults
When: Friday, June 26, 3-4:30pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Teens and adults are invited to play chess in the auditorium of the Park Slope library this summer. All skill levels are welcome, so whether your a newbie or a pro, come get your game on!
How much: Free.
Celebrate Brooklyn!: Paris Is Burning
When: Friday, June 26, 7:30-10:30pm
Where: Prospect Park Bandshell, Prospect Park West at 9th Street
What: On Friday, the Bandshell shines a light on Harlem drag balls of the 1980s, with a screening of Jennie Livingston’s Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning documentary, Paris is Burning.
How much: Free.
Lola Star’s Dreamland Roller Disco
When: Friday, June 26, 7:30pm
Where: LeFrak Center, Lakeside
What: Get jiggy wit it this Friday at Lakeside, where Dreamland Roller Disco is all about those glorious pop hits of the ’90s. Note that admission is restricted to guests ages 21 and older. For more information, or to buy tickets in advance, visit the Dreamland website.
How much: $18 (includes admission and skate rental).
Row, Row, Row Your Boat In Prospect Park
When: Saturday, June 27 12-4pm
Where: Boat ramp on Wellhouse Drive, Prospect Park
What: Grab an oar and spend a lovely Saturday rowing around the lake in Prospect Park. Boats are available on a first come, first serve basis (no reservations are accepted), and life jackets are provided.
How much: Free.
Flax to Linen
When: Saturdays and Sundays in June, 2-4pm
Where: Lefferts Historic House, Prospect Park
What: Did you know that Lefferts House has a flax crop? This month, the whole family is invited to come and give the tools used to process flax fibers into linen cloth a try. Kids can also sew a small linen pouch to take home.
How much: $3 suggested donation
Celebrate Brooklyn!: Jason Moran’s Fats Waller Dance Party
When: Saturday, June 27, 7:30-10:30pm
Where: Prospect Park Bandshell, Prospect Park West at 9th Street
What: If you’re looking for “a hip-shaking, eye-popping spectacle complete with dancers and costumes,” look no further than Prospect Park, where Jason Moran is rocking the Bandshell on Saturday night.
How much: Free.
Food Truck Rally
When: Sunday, June 28, 11am-5pm
Where: Grand Army Plaza
What: Have the munchies? Stop by Prospect Park on Sunday, and nosh on goodies from some of the city’s best food trucks.
