South Slope Weekend Events Spotlight: January 16-19
From trivia and art to a cat on a European Grand Tour, South Slope is definitely the place to be this weekend. Check out some of our favorite events from around the neighborhood:
Trivial Dispute
When: Thursday, January 16, 9pm
Where: Supercollider, 609 4th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Streets
What: Get those thinking caps on, because it’s trivia night at Supercollider. Look for drink prizes, and a “name that tune with songs you’ll know, but just can’t quite remember the title of.”

The Vapors
When: Friday, January 17, 10pm
Where: The Black Horse Pub, 568 5th Avenue at 16th Street
What: Ready for some “funk, soul, and old school hip hop?” DJ Ben the Beyonder will be at The Black Horse Friday night spinning your favorite tunes.

New Drawings: Mexico And New York City
When: Opening reception Saturday, January 18, 2pm to 5pm/Exhibition runs through February 23
Where: 44o Gallery, 440 6th Avenue, between 9th and 10th Street
What: Artist Vicki Behm introduces her second solo exhibition at 440 Gallery this weekend. With her black ink drawings on handmade paper and collages, Behm “views fragments of daily life in detail, noting idiosyncrasies and ironies with warmth and gentle mirth,” both here in New York City, and in her summer home of Oaxaca, Mexico.

Story Time With Lauren Castillo
When: Sunday, January 19, 11:30am
Where: Powerhouse on 8th, 1111 8th Avenue, between 11th and 12th Streets
What: Brooklyn Illustrator Lauren Castillo hosts this Sunday’s Powerhouse Story Time, and introduces kids to a “plucky stray cat” on a European Grand Tour in her book City Cat.
