South Slope Weekday Events Spotlight: October 19-21
Don’t let this chilly start to the week get you down! With everything from Zumba and winter jobs, to blues and new authors, folks in the Slope won’t have to go far for fun. Here are some of our top weekday picks from around the area.

Zumba
When: Monday, October 19, 5pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Kick off a new fitness regimen at the Park Slope Library every Monday, as the branch hosts an energetic Zumba class for the community.
How much: Free.
Winter Season Job Fair
When: Tuesday, October 20, 10am-4pm
Where: LeFrak Center, Lakeside
What: Looking for a little seasonal work? Lakeside will hold their first winter job fair on Tuesday, October 13. Both rink staff and food/beverage positions are available. For more information, visit the Lakeside website.
Rock With Adam
When: Tuesday, October 20, 1:30pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Are you ready to rock? Neighborhood kids are definitely in for a treat as guitarist Adam Blotner plays some of his favorite tunes.
How much: Free, but tickets are required for entry (one per family), so be sure to arrive early to score your ticket.
Blues On Tuesday
When: Tuesday, October 20, 10pm
Where: Freddy’s, 627 5th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Streets
What: Local band Fife and Drom hosts an incredible night of classic blues at Freddy’s on Tuesday night.
How much: Free.
Kids Create
When: Wednesday, October 21, 4:15-5pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Need some after school activities on Wednesday? Head over to our local library for crafts, stories, and other fun things to do. Note that the program is geared toward children six and up, but younger kids are welcome with an adult.
How much: Free.
BOOKISH: Writers Talking
When: Wednesday, October 21, 7:30-9pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Join Kensington novelist Amy Shearn as she talks to some of today’s top writers about “work, writing, reading, and where they get their tote bags.” This week, author Naomi Jackson discusses her debut novel, The Star Side of Bird Hill.
