South Slope Weekday Events Spotlight: November 10-13
Don’t wait until this weekend for a little neighborhood fun! With everything from Veterans Day fun in Prospect Park to a classical guitar concert, the Slope is definitely the place to be through Thursday. Here are some of our favorite events from around the area:
Dive Comedy
When: Monday, November 10, 8:30pm
Where: Freddy’s, 627 5th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Streets
What: Temperatures may be dropping in the city, but Monday is scheduled to be a hot one at Freddy’s when their twice-monthly dive comedy night, hosted by the hilarious Giulia Rozzi and Brooke Van Poppelen, hits the stage. Featuring Nimesh Patel, Noah Gardenswartz, Claudia Cogan, Micah Sherman, Anna Dresden, guest co-host Will Miles, and music from Paper Anniversary (which has a member who’s the millionth runner to finish the NYC Marathon!).

Veterans Day In Prospect Park
When: Tuesday, November 11
Where: Prospect Park
What: Kids have the day off of school Tuesday? From nature events at the Audubon Center to potato sack races at Lefferts House, Prospect Park ready to entertain the family after the grownups rock the vote.
How much: Nature programs: free, Lefferts House: $3 suggested donation, and carousel: $2 per ride.
Trivia Night
When: Tuesday, November 11, 8pm
Where: Johnny Mack’s, 1114 8th Avenue
What: If you’ve got some trivial knowledge just taking up room in your brain, let it out here for the possibility of free shots and prizes!
How much: Free.
Kings Bay Y Rock With Adam
When: Wednesday, November 12, 10:30am
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Are you ready to rock? Neighborhood kids are definitely in for a treat as guitarist Adam Blotner plays some of his favorite tunes.
How much: Free, but tickets are required for entry (one per family), so be sure to arrive early to score your ticket.
Babies and Books
When: Wednesday, November 12, 1:30pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 6th Avenue and 9th Street
What: Bring the smallest of Slopers to the Park Slope Library on Wednesday for books, songs and rhymes. Recommended for children ages 0 to 18 months.
How much: Free, but a ticket is required for entry. See the librarian for more details.
Shape Up NYC: Dance Fitness
When: Thursday, November 13, 11am
Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: Shake your groove thing at the Audubon Center on Thursday and get into shape. This new total-body workout class “uses easy-to-follow dance steps to increase cardiovascular fitness and tone the body.”
How much: Free.
Classical Guitar Recital With Carlos Pavan
When: Thursday, November 13, 6:30-7:30pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 6th Avenue and 9th Street
What: Join neighbors for an evening of guitar music from Argentina and South America, performed by guitarist and composer Carlos Pavan.
How much: Free.
