Don’t wait until this weekend for a little neighborhood fun! With everything from 5k training to creative rock, South Slope is definitely the place to be through Wednesday.

Shape Up NYC: Couch To 5k
When: Monday, May 5, 7pm
Where: Meets in Prospect Park on the porch of Lefferts Historic House
What: It’s time, once again, to lace up those sneakers, and make your fitness dreams a reality in Prospect Park. This weekly jog combines group running, walking, and conditioning exercises to get you in shape for long distance running.
How much: Free.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo With Chicha Libre
When: Monday, May 5, 9:30pm
Where: Barbes, 376 9th Street at 6th Avenue
What: Chicha Libre plays a mixture of latin rhythms, surf music, and psychedelic pop inspired by 1970s Peruvian music from the Amazon. Better still, “the French members of the band promise a reenactment with the Mexican member of the band,” in honor of Cinco de Mayo. How could you pass that up?
How much: $10 (strongly) suggested donation

Mind & Meditation Workshop
When: Tuesday, May 6, 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Stress and life in the big city often go hand in hand, but the Park Slope Library is at the ready with a one hour meditation workshop aimed at helping neighbors “gain insight into the laws that govern the mind and emotions, learn breathing techniques that help de-stress and reduce negative emotions while increasing energy, focus and efficiency.”
How much: Free.

Kings Bay Y Disco Time
When: Wednesday, May 7, 10:30am
Where: Park Slope Library, 6th Avenue, between 8th and 9th Street
What: Ready to party? Yoni the Puppet is bringing an interactive Hebrew story time and sing-a-long to the Park Slope Library. Expect lots of dancing, smiles, and laughter from your little Park Sloper! Recommended for kids ages 0-5.
How much: Free, but tickets (one per family) are required, so arrive early to secure to spot.

Todd Clouser’s A Love Electric
When: Wednesday, May 7, 10:30pm
Where: Freddy’s, 627 5th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Streets
What: In the mood for some “creative rock?” The multinational Love Electric trio “carries the legacies of psychedelic rock, NYC’s downtown scene, and introspective song into new territories.” Definitely check ’em out.
How much: Free.
