South Slope Rental Roundup: Outdoor Space

In the market for a new rental, and hoping to find a place where you can enjoy the outdoors? We’ve rounded up a few options that each have some kind of outdoor space included. How do they stack up to other places you’re seeing in your hunt?

15 Calder Place
Price: $2,200, plus broker’s fee
Size: 1 bed, 1 bath
Available: June 1
Details: It’s only about 500 square feet, but it’s got a washer/dryer and a dishwasher in the unit. As for that outdoor space, it has a small private terrace, which could be nice for growing some plants and flowers. Depending on which side of the building the apartment is on, though, you may have a less-than-pleasant view: of the BQE.

590 6th Avenue, Apt 3 (Pictured Above)
Price: $2,600, plus broker’s fee
Size: 2 beds, 1 bath
Available: June 2
Details: Another apartment with a dishwasher, but you’ll have to head to the basement to do laundry. The outdoor space here is a terrace that looks like it has enough space for a small table and a couple chairs, but you might want to replace that astroturf if possible.

394 15th Street
Price: $3,250, plus broker’s fee
Size: 3 beds, 1 bath
Available: Immediately
Details: Again, there’s a dishwasher in the kitchen, which opens into the living space. This duplex apartment has the best outdoor space of the batch, a private roof deck (you’re ten floors up) with access straight from the apartment. Plus, for those winters when you can’t enjoy the deck, there’s a fireplace inside to warm up near.
