South Slope Remembers Former NYC Mayor Ed Koch, Dead at 88

News broke this morning that former NYC Mayor Ed Koch passed away around 2am from congestive heart failure. Mayor Koch, who held office from 1978-1989, was an undeniable force to be reckoned with, and whether you agreed with his policies or not, he will always be remembered as a New Yorker, tried-and-true.
Ed Koch was the mayor of my childhood in NYC. #RIP

‘How’m I doing?’ – that simple phrase captured Ed Koch’s deep connection to everyday NYers & that connection fueled his urgency & greatness

In what should be no surprise to anyone, Mayor Koch refused to be silenced, even in death, and looked straight into the camera for the opening clip of a New York Times video obituary, and asked, “Do you miss me?”
We certainly do miss you, Mayor, and can safely say that you’re doing alright.
