South Slope Open House Roundup

In the market for a new place to call home? Check out some of the open houses taking place this weekend, and let us know what you think:

534 6th Avenue, Apt 1, between 14th and 15th Streets
Open House: Sunday, October 7, 2:30-4pm
You want a ton of space, including some outdoors? This two-bedroom, three-bath home (shown above) listed by Warren Lewis Sothebys International Reality is a duplex with 1,595 square feet of  living space, central air conditioning and laundry. The lack of a view because you’re on a lower floor is made up with the killer private garden. Asking $1,170,000 with common charges of $386 per month and a 25-year abatement.

231 15th Street, Apt 4A, between 5th and 6th Avenues
Open House: Sunday, October 7, 4-5:30pm
Also enormous with outdoor space, this three-bedroom, two-bath condo is listed by Corcoran. It’s a 1,472-square-foot apartment in an elevator building and features all the fancy interior stuff you expect, like granite and stainless steel, plus a washer/dryer, ample closet space and a private 100-square-foot terrace. Square footage is less than the 6th Ave apartment, but the price is more: $1,295,000. Common charges are also higher at $549. Sweet views from a common roof deck, though.

284 18th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues
Open House: Sunday, October 7, 10:30am-12:30pm
Looking outside of the condo/co-ops scene? This remodeled two-family rowhouse has a two-bedroom, two-bath duplex on top and a one-bedroom, one-bath rental unit below. There’s a backyard, which in the picture looks like a work in progress. Listed by Keller Williams NYC for $949,000.

200 16th Street, Apt 3C, between 5th and 6th Avenues
Open House: Sunday, October 7, 3-4:30pm
Another building with a shared roof deck. This one’s a two-bedroom, two-bath condo listed by Corcoran in an elevator building, and features floor to ceiling windows, wide plank maple floors, stainless steal appliances and a private balcony. Asking $650,000, with common charges of $397. This is the first open house for this space, let’s see how long it’s on the market.

1209 8th Avenue, Apt 2, between 12th and 13th Streets
Open House: Sunday, October 7, 1-3pm
This 825-square-foot co-op with two bedrooms and one bathroom is listed by Citi-Habitats. It was recently renovated, so while it’s got some original details like a fireplace that can be converted back to wood-burning, it’s also got an updated kitchen. Washer/dryer is allowed in the apartment (with Board approval) though there is a laundry in the basement. The way one of the bedrooms is set up for viewing shows a bed will only fit sideways – fine for your kid maybe, but visiting relatives will have to climb over each other to get in and out. Fido and Mittens are welcome to move in, though. Asking $535,000, with a $703 maintenance fee.

351 21st Street, Apt 3F, between 6th and 7th Avenues
Open House: Sunday, October 7, 1-2:30pm
If our area has one thing, it’s apartments with outdoor space. This two-bedroom, one-bathroom condo is another with a shared roof deck, though it would be interesting to know how loud it gets up there – Greenwood Park is just around the corner, but probably not close enough to carry noise up there. There’s a washer/dryer in the unit, which is a plus, but you only get a “kitchenette.” Listed by Brown Harris Stevens for $329,000, common charges $287.
