From country to gutter punk, there’s a little something for everyone this weekend in South Slope.
Honky Tonk Night With Blue Steel
When: Thursday, October 17, 8pm
Where: Freddy’s, 627 5th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Street
What: Grab those ropers and cowboy hats, because Freddy’s is fixin’ to let loose with a little honky tonk.
How much: Free!
Blooming Naturalists
When: Friday, October 18, 2pm to 3pm
Where: Prospect Park Audubon Center
What: Bring the kids out to Prospect Park on Friday for one of the last Blooming Naturalist sessions of the season (the series runs every Thursday and Friday through October 25). Participants will make nature journals and learn how to use binoculars and field guides.
How much: Free!
Cookbook Tasting Series with Melissa Vaughan: Franny’s by Andrew Feinberg & Francine Stephens
When: Saturday, October 19, 4pm to 5pm
Where: Powerhouse on 8th, 1111 8th Avenue, between 11th and 12th Street
What: You can’t get much better than a cookbook signing with tasty food! Melissa Vaughan, author of The New Brooklyn Cookbook will prepare dishes from the cookbook Franny’s. Andrew Feinberg and Francine Stephens, authors and owners of the restaurant Franny’s here in Brooklyn, will also be on-hand to sign copies of their book.

Personality Crisis
When: Sunday, October 20, 10pm
Where: Supercollider, 4th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Street
What: Twig the Wonderkid and Friends will “spin glamorous rock n roll and New York gutter punk” at Supercollider on Sunday. As an added bonus, look for an open vodka bar from 10pm to 11pm. The event is 21 and up only, so make sure you bring an ID with you.
