Don’t let this gray and rainy Thursday stop you from kicking off an excellent weekend of hyperlocal fun. Here’s some of the neighborhood events taking place through Sunday:

South’s Smutty Senior Prom
When: Thursday, November 7, 7pm
Where: 629 5th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Street
What: Congratulations to Paul and Dee over at South, who rang in four fabulous years on Fifth Avenue this week. To celebrate, the bar is hosting a senior prom on Thursday night. Look for raffles, prizes, drink specials and punch. Corsages and boutonnieres will be available at the door for $1, and (as one would expect from a senior prom) fancy dress is encouraged, so dig out those old bridesmaid dresses!
How much: Free!

Matilda Jane Trunk Show
When: Friday, November 8, 3pm to 5pm and 6pm to 8pm
Where: A Shoe Grows in Brooklyn, 419 7th Ave at 14th Street
What: Ready to check out some of the newest trends in children’s clothing for the fall and holiday seasons? A Shoe Grows in Brooklyn welcomes Matilda Jane Clothing to the shop on Friday for a special trunk show. In addition to shoe and outfit pairings for  little girls, there will be a nice selection of women’s shoes to look at, too. Bonus perk for those of you attending the evening session: wine and cheese will be served.
How Much: Free!

Reflecting on Reflections: 22nd Annual Quilt Show
When: Saturday, November 9, 12pm to 4pm (show runs weekends through December 1)
Where: Prospect Park, Lefferts Historic House
What: Looking for a relaxing weekend activity? Lefferts House currently has 23 quilts on loan from The Quilters’ Guild of Brooklyn that range from “traditional to contemporary and beyond.”  The impressive and original creations were inspired by this year’s theme of “reflections.”
How much: Free!

Top Secret
When: Sunday, November 10, 10pm
Where: Cafe Steinhof, 422 7th Avenue at 14th Street
What: “An American pop idol scheduled to perform in East Germany falls in with the French Resistance, which plans to infiltrate the enemy via a cow suit.” How can you go wrong with a description like that? It’s Sunday movie night at Cafe Steinhof! Go.
