Whether you’re paying homage to the Great GoogaMooga or showing some local pride on 5th Ave, South Slope is the place to be this weekend. Check out our top picks.

Movies at the Pavilion
When: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Where: 188 Prospect Park West at 14th Street
What: Want to avoid the inevitable GoogaMooga/Brooklyn Half/Fabulous 5th crowds that will be descending on our community this weekend, but feeling trapped because the F and G are both going to be wonky? Take in a movie at the Pavilion. In addition to Peeples, Iron Man 3, and 42, Star Trek and The Great Gatsby are both playing.
How much: All shows before 4:00pm are $8.00 (no matinee pricing on Sundays). Shows after 4pm are $11 for adults and $8 for seniors (62+) and children (12 and under). All 3D films are an additional $3.

Great GoogaMooga
When: Kickoff Concert: Friday, May 17 from 4pm to 10pm, Weekend festival: Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, 19 from 11am to 8pm
Where: Prospect Park
What: You know the drill by now. Music, food, lines, and GoogaMooga minions.
How much: Tickets for the kickoff concert are available for $54.50 a pop, but you’re probably out of luck if you’re still trying to score a free weekend ticket. That said, there appear to be a million and a half New Yorkers on Craigslist trying to sell their GoogaMooga passes if you can’t live without one.

The Fabulous Fifth Avenue Fair
When: Sunday, May 19, 12 – 5 p.m.
Where: Fifth Avenue between 12th Street and Sterling Place
What: The annual street fair brings a day of fabulous family fun on Fifth Avenue, with live performances, local vendors, and special attractions (previous years have included rides, arts and crafts, antique cars, and puppetry theater arts).
How much: Free!

Shred Fest
When: Sunday, May 19, 10am to 4pm
Where: Prospect Park West and 3rd Street
What: Safely shred papers containing personal information for free using shredding trucks, and get free identity theft prevention tips. The first 5 people to arrive with your papers to shred will also receive a FREE paper shredder from Staples
How much: FREE
