South Slope Events Spotlight: August 8-11

From Shakespeare in the parking lot to Breaking Bad with friends, South Slope is the place to be this weekend. Here are our top picks from around the area:

A Midsummer Night’s Dream
When: Thursday, August 8
Where: Parking lot at the corner of 5th Avenue and 17th Street
What: Tonight is the night! South owners Paul Molnar and Dee-Byrd Molnar bring us the first every performance from South Brooklyn Shakespeare. The gates open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. If Mother Nature decides to drop some rain, the show will take place in the troupe’s rehearsal space across the street.
How much: Free!

LC Festival At Bar 4
When: Friday, August 9 – Tuesday, August 13
Where: 444 7th Avenue at 15th Street
What: This four-night music festival, hosted by Local Correspondents, features short sets from some of the local independent musicians that have called Bar 4 home over the years. Visit the group’s Facebook page for a complete schedule of performances.
How much: Free!

Morning Yoga And Breakfast At Green-Wood
When: Saturday, August 10, 8am
Where: 5th Avenue and 25th Street entrance to Green-Wood
What: Don’t miss the final summer yoga class at Green-Wood. Barrie Raffel will lead an hour-long class of “active-but-gentle” yoga in the heart of our beautiful cemetery. Bring your own mat, water, washcloth or small towel and wear comfortable clothing. Afterward, join the class for a light picnic breakfast from the gang at Baked in Brooklyn.

Breaking Bad Viewing Party at The Monro
When: Sunday, August 11, 9pm
Where: 481 5th Avenue, between 11th and 12th Street
What: “Bring the popcorn, leave the meth” and come watch Breaking Bad with your friends at The Monro Pub!
