From hilarious teen angst to a lasagna bake off, South Slope is the place to be this weekend. Here are our top picks:

Thursday, April 11

Get deliriously (and hysterically) uncomfortable Thursday night with Cringe. The monthly installment at Freddy’s showcases brave souls who stand up on stage to read from their high school journals, diaries, notes and other “general representations of the crushing misery of their humiliating adolescence.” It’s brilliant. Show starts at 7pm. No cover.

Friday, April 12

Join BAX Artist in Residence Mariangela López for El Regreso (The Return).

After working and investigating the individual journey within a large community of performers for so many years, Mariangela López is going back to her own body as an attempt to understand her own ideas from her own physicality and inner world. She is using the power of the group as a catalytic energy that will guide her through this voyage. In this process she is transposing the relationship of the group and herself; how can they be present in the solo performer? How can she become a vehicle and a mirror of their own dreams and ultimately find the ritual that allows total exposure to achieve body/mind emancipation?

Shows are Friday and Saturday at 8pm, and Sunday at 6pm. Tickets are $15 for general admission, and $8 for low-income. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit the BAX website.

Saturday, April 13

The City Stomp benefit concert will be held this Saturday at Littlefield (622 Degraw Street). All proceeds support Hope and Heroes Children’s Cancer Fund, whose upcoming walk is chaired by South Slope mom Patty Cavallo. Tickets are $12 in advance, or $14 at the door. Families (with a maximum of 2 adults) can purchase a family pack of tickets in advance for $40. For more information, visit the City Stomp website.

Sunday, April 14

Have a lasagna that would make Garfield drool with delight? 5th Avenue watering hole, South (629 5th Ave), is holding a lasagna cook off this Sunday at 3pm. Bring your lasagna up to the bar, a panel of 3 judges will decide the winner, and top prize receives a snazzy gift certificate to the bar.
