South Slope Event Spotlight: June 20-23

It’s a weekend of festivals and fun here in South Slope! Here are some of our favorite events from around the area.

Outdoor Concert With City Stomp
When: Thursday, June 20, 5pm to 6pm
Where: Old Stone House/JJ Byrne Playground, 5th Avenue, between 2nd and 3rd Street
What: Join local favorites City Stomp a free outdoor family concert as part of the larger Spoke the Hub Produce Festival. No reservation or tickets required. Just arrive on June 20 ready to rock.
How much: Free!

Make Music New York
When: Friday, June 21
Where: All Up And Down Fifth Avenue
What: Celebrate the first day of summer with free outdoor music. The festival will be rocking for the 7th year in a row at locations all over the city, but you can check out Freddy’s (627 5th Ave, between 17th and 18th Street), Lenny’s Pizza (594 5th Ave between 16th and Prospect Avenue), Fifth Avenue Record and Tape (439 5th Avenue at 9th Street) and more in our neck of the woods. Tropfest New York
When: Saturday, June 22, 3pm to 11pm
Where: Prospect Park Nethermead
What: Hosted by Liev Schreiber, the film festival will feature music, food, art installations and a lineup of short films that will be judged live at the festival.
How much: Free and open to the public, but RSVP is recommended to that you can receive updates on the event.

Community Celebration At Ellis Playground
When: Sunday, June 23, 10am
Where: 12th Street, between 2nd and 3rd Avenue
What: Come down to Gowanus on Sunday and help beautify one of our local playgrounds. There will also be electronics recycling, food, face painting, games, and a few furry friends that are in need of a new forever home.
How much: Free!
