June may seem like a long time from now, but that warm weather and summer sun has a way of sneaking up on you.

So while you’re waiting, you can prepare yourself by listening or re-listening to music by the great bands that will be coming to BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn at the Prospect Park Bandshell this summer.

Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings open up the season on June 8. Jones hails from Bed-Stuy, so the opening will be hometown affair with plenty of soul and funk. And the opening event is free.

Four other bands will be performing throughout the summer in a benefit show series:

Tame Impala (Tuesday, June 14 and Wednesday, June 15) released the critically acclaimed album Currents in 2015. The Australian band has been playing since 2007, and the band played Radio City Music Hall last Fall.

Ray LaMontagne (Wednesday, June 22) is a singer-songwriter set to release his new album Ourboros in a few days.

case / lang / veirs (Tuesday, July 26) is a ‘folk supergroup’ of sorts, featuring Neko Case of The New Pornographers, the pop/country k.d. lang, and indie folk star Laura Veirs. Their collaborative album — due in June — is highly anticipated.

Beirut (Tuesday, August 2) is based in Brooklyn, but their music is influenced from Eastern European gypsy rock, Mexican mariachis, and a lot more. Their album No No No came out last Fall.

Tickets for these benefit show range between $40-$50 for the these shows and can be purchased online.

Many free concerts will take place throughout the summer. BRIC has not yet released the line-up.
