Not long after a new outpost of clothing and accessories store Something Else opened a few blocks away, the space on the corner of 5th Avenue and Union Street has been listed for rent — and it could lead to an even bigger retail option for the neighborhood, when an also-available adjacent storefront is included.

The Something Else location at 208 5th Avenue has been listed along with the space at 688 Union Street — which had been vacant and under construction for a few years, but which was unveiled a few months back.

The spaces are available on their own, and you could also just lease the 5th Avenue’s basement space on its own, or you can get the whole kit and kaboodle. According to the listing, Something Else has 1,300 square feet, and that plus 608 Union and the basement is a total of 3,200 square feet — prices aren’t listed. A separate listing for 608 Union and the basement, however, has that 600-square-foot space going for $7,500 per month, and with the basement (1,900 square feet total, no Something Else here) it would be $12,500.

Here’s what that listing proposes for uses:

Any type business would be perfect, including but not limited to, retail, office (medical, accounting, law firm, etc.), wine/cheese bar (basement great for entertainment), etc. there is plenty of exposed brick, providing for a nice rustic look.

For comparison, another corner of 5th Avenue, at St Johns Place, is currently on the market for $8,750 — that’s a price drop on the 1,000-square-foot (plus basement) space, which was originally listed for $10k back in December.

What do you think might work in these spaces — or in the combined potential space?
