Some Local Love For Ditmas Parkers In The Arts
As amNewYork wrote in their article about local band Lucius yesterday, “Ditmas Park is quickly becoming the new epicenter of Brooklyn’s music scene.” Whether you don’t believe the hype or are thinking, “becoming?”, here are a few new developments from neighborhood creative types:
- Lucius got their bit of citywide press as mentioned above, and will be playing a sold out show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg tomorrow night before continuing with their tour across the US.
- Sycamore and Bar Chord vets Bombay Rickey received enough preorders via their indiegogo campaign to record their first album.
- John Munnelly, who recently released his album Hello World, is on his way to doing the whole triple threat thing. He just starred in a movie called Hectic Knife, whose directors are now running their own crowd funding campaign to help with costs of distributing the film. Check out the teaser and incentives below:

- Local rappers Grey Sky Appeal will be playing at this year’s Flatbush Frolic on September 15.
- Like Lucius, Chappo‘s next show is also sold out. The psych rockers will be opening for Imagine Dragons at the 2,400-seat Borgata Event Center in Atlantic City on Friday, August 30.
- Spirit Family Reunion will play the final date of their US tour at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on Saturday, November 2. Tickets are available here.
- No Sky God will be playing Mercury Lounge on Tuesday, August 20. The show starts at 7:30pm, and tickets are available here.
Are there any other local artists who’ve recently released something new, or are playing in the area soon? Let us know, and we’ll add them to the list.
