Snail Season

Snail Season

So much rain, so many snails. Mostly, I’ve just seen the sad (but pretty) shells, though I did spot one active snail making his way along the bottom of a tree trunk. Have you seen any so far this year?

Since snails (and slugs) are often regarded as pests by gardeners, I’m sure some of you out there aren’t big fans of them. Any tips for saving your plants from their destructive ways?

Finally, I know I’ve seen snails for sale at Seatuck Fish at the Cortelyou Greenmarket–anyone have any good recipes?
