Owner Karla Mironov [Slope Suds] knew just the course of action for my limp locks, which were knotted from the winter wind. After washing with Davines Dede shampoo for stressed hair and Melu antibreakage conditioner, she applied a detangler and gave me a relaxing scalp massage. I decided to let Mironov get creative with a long-overdue cut, requesting that she give me a style that required little maintenance, to complement my no-fuss morning routine. Mironov uses a dry-cut technique, blow-drying first, then meticulously chopping and reshaping. She lopped off the split ends and built texture by cutting in a series of subtle layers in the back, then trimmed the side fringe to better frame my face. The final result: healthier, fuller hair and a flattering cut that left me ready for a night out.

After inspecting my face under bright light, facialist Jenny Li [Feel Day Spa] deemed my skin “too dry” and recommended the spa’s hydrating collagen treatment to soothe my elements-ravaged visage. She began by cleansing my face with a wipe and applying a cool exfoliating peel. While a facial steamer opened my pores, Li massaged my neck and temples to help relax my muscles. She then set to work extracting blackheads on my nose and plucked and shaped my eyebrows. A rose-scented moisturizer created a base for the final step: a protein- and antioxidant-rich, 15-minute collagen mask meant to clear and moisten my skin, making it more elastic and minimizing fine lines. Once the layer was removed, my skin looked refreshed and felt smoother than it has all season
