Signage For Dog Wash N’ Go Is Up On 1st Street
Dog Wash N Go

A new spot where you can wash your own dog or pick up some “pet aromatherapy” products will be opening soon on 1st Street just off 7th Avenue.

Dog Wash N’ Go just installed signage at 447 1st Street, which was most recently home to Percy’s Pizza — many thanks to neighbor Liam who sent us this photo. According to the business’ Facebook page, not only can you self-wash your dog, but they’ll offer full-service grooming, dog walking, pet sitting, and more:

We offer a Self Dog Wash, where you can wash your own dog in one of our Self Dog Wash Stations equipped with a foaming wash system, a variety of Shampoos and conditioner, brushes, highly absorbent shammy towels and high power force hair dryers for quick drying (don’t forget doggy cologne and styling products.) Our trained professionals can provide nail clipping, ear cleaning, nail polish and many other services at The Self Dog Wash. Or leave the washing to us with our Express Wash at our self Dog Wash stations, where we wash you dog for you.

A bit of the “more” includes: “We even plan Doggy Birthday Parties!!” Man do they know their neighborhood. Hopefully they’ll be able to help you plan Fido’s big bash at The Gate, soon.

According to Yelp, the business has been around since 2004, and the reviews of the owner Rod Leite’s grooming are largely very positive. According to another site, HomeDoggy — which notes he has worked as a wild animal keeper — he’s been grooming in the area since 2002. He also appears to be behind a patent-pending hands-free grooming device that could put himself out of business, theoretically.

There are a few other dog grooming services in our area, but as it appears he’s opening a storefront for an established neighborhood business, perhaps it won’t have too much of an impact on the others. This will be the first self-wash in the area, however.

For those who’ve used his services before, what’d you think? And for everyone else, do you have a preferred groomer in the neighborhood, or are you looking forward to this new space?
