This photo, along with others, was sent to us last night at around 6pm from a reader of ours, Stefan Levine.

The crash depicted in the photo happened on Shore Boulevard and Falmouth Avenue in Manhattan Beach last night. There appears to be three cars involved. There’s the white honda with its front bumper on the curb and the hood up, a silver SUV on the other side of the road, which looks to have its front bumper falling off, and a third SUV on the sidewalk near the barrier between the water and the sidewalk that is being towed away in the picture.

There are people gathered on either side of the street, and what looks to be a police SUV with its sirens on.

When we reached out to the police for information about what happened, we were told the report hasn’t gone through yet — they usually take two to three days — so they had no information to provide.

We’ve reported on many accidents and crashes on Shore Boulevard in the past. Some were honest accidental fender benders, some were far more serious than others, and others were even fatal.

In September, City Councilmember Chaim Deutsch, who represents the area, proposed a bill that would speed up the process of filing an accident report. The bill would require that officers drafting the report would email them to the relevant party, instead of having them come pick it up. This would streamline the process, and take away clutter at police precincts.

We will update as more information comes in.
