A threat of a school shooting brought NYPD officers to Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School (357 Clermont Avenue) early this morning to greet students with a wall of no, joining teachers in telling them that school was closed for the morning and possibly the day.

As a student told DNAInfo, “The principal and the cops were blocking the door saying, ‘There’s no school today,'” said one 13-year-old student. “I heard someone made threats of a shooting. It’s a little scary.”

According to police, the threat was made over Facebook and the suspect’s identity is known to them, but no arrests have yet been made and the investigation is ongoing.

The New York Post reports that a 15-year-old boy is being questioned in connection with the case, and that he allegedly wrote “Don’t go to Bishop Loughlin today because it’s going to get shot up.”

The decision to cancel classes was made “to secure the safety of our students,” school president Brother Dennis Cronin told the Post. “The young people who come to our school are entrusted to our care. We take that responsibility very seriously.”

We’ll update with more information as we know it.
