CONEY ISLAND/BROWNSVILLE – Three people – one in Brownsville and two in Coney Island – were shot and killed in two separate shootings in the borough last night.

On Tuesday, August 20 at around 9:20 p.m., cops responded to a call of a dispute on the corner of Union Street and Sutter Avenue. There, 28-year-old neighbor Arsenio Gravesande was on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the left hip.

He was taken to Brookdale Hospital and died from his injuries. Before dying, Gravesande refused to help cops identify the gunman, the Daily News reported. As of today, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Shortly after at around 10:11 p.m., two men were shot on West 19th Street near Neptune Avenue. Cops found a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and a 38-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head. Both victims were taken to Coney Island Hospital and were pronounced dead.

Despite last night’s homicides, shootings and murders are still down overall in the borough, the NYPD says.
