SHEEPSHEAD BAY – Back in 2015, we wrote about the East 17th Street’s Bay Veterinary Clinic Closing After 37 Years, To Be Replaced By 5-Story Office Building. As it happens, a new veterinary clinic opened in mid-August in its place –prêtpet.

“As a seasoned veterinarian, animal lover and advocate, I have been dedicated to developing a safe, comfortable veterinary experience with optimum care and a strong social commitment to pet welfare and the community,” says prêtpet’s Chief Caregiver, Dr. Anna Samuel.

“prêtpet was carefully designed to enhance the entire experience of ‘going to the vet’ by incorporating a concierge hospitality mindset and technology elements that create a pleasing sensory experience for both pets and pet parents.”

It’s definitely an upscale vet experience. Aromatherapy and soothing sounds, an app to text appts and medication refills, calm, clean and stylish space. The hospital is equipped with the latest diagnostic technology, an in-house lab, pharmacy, digital radiology, digital dental and surgical suite, allowing them to provide immediate care as well as long-term medical management.

Why Sheepshead Bay? The new luxury buildings allow pets, and their owners expect luxurious care for their furry kids, Dr. Samuel says. However, prêtpet is also partnering with local animal welfare organizations to nurse animals back to good health.

Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce was there to help cut the ribbon.

In fact, during the opening Golden’s aid, John Seravalli saw their rescue teacup Yorkie whom prêtpet staff brought back to good health – and the rest is history.  “Cannoli” is one lucky dog.
