Sheepshead Bay And Brighton Beach Area Apartment Roundup

Placing your own personalized sun in your apartment is in vogue. Optional sun will cost extra.

Looking for a new place to call home? Sheepshead Bites has got you covered. Our rental roundup is a new feature showcasing some of the deals on the market now. If you know of a great place available for rent or are a broker representing a property you want included, contact nberke [at] sheepsheadbites [dot] com. And if you live in or near one the places below, let neighbors know what you think in the comments.

Note: Based on conversations with real estate agents and having written this column for a few months now, rent prices have begun  to increase this month and will peak during the spring and summer. So if you’re looking to get a place, now is better than later.

One Bedroom Condo in Brighton Beach
Price: $1,500
Location: Brighton 6th Street and Brighton Beach Avenue
Description: Say goodbye to the days of being too cold or too hot in the winter because the place gives you the freedom to control the heat. Welcome to free will! The realtor also put a picture up of the sun in the listing. I guess she missed the class on subliminal messaging and went straight to the overt.

Two Bedroom Condo for a Bajillion Dollars in Sheepshead Bay
Price: $3,483
Location: 3144 Emmons Avenue
Description: In an attempt to wet your palette, the realtor for this listing writes that “the seagulls await” in these “luxury” rentals. The thought of seagulls – with their grating squawking and scavenging – awaiting my presence hardly sells this place for me. Like any respectable luxury apartment, this place includes an outdoor pool, gym, underground on-site parking, bike storage and a little something different – a private fishing “pier” which isn’t really a pier. This, by the way, is The Breakers development, which we’ve written quite a bit about.

One Bedroom in Sheepshead Bay
Price: $1,550
Location: Ocean Avenue
Description: What we have here is the poor man’s (well, comparatively) luxury apartment. The building has a doorman, a pool and laundry in the building. Pets are allowed and there’s also a dishwasher in the apartment.

One Bedroom “Penthouse” in Midwood
Price: $1,900
Location: 1576 East 15th Street
Description: Nevermind the Trump Plaza penthouse, this is a Midwood-style penthouse. The balcony may not be as big as a Manhattan counterpart and the bathtub may not be as big. But, here it is, a penthouse in Southern Brooklyn.
