Sheepshead Bay Docs Snagged In Medicare Scam
Three local doctors and a pharmacist are facing up to ten years in prison after allegedly bilking Medicare out of more than $90,000. The doctors, some working out of the Sadkhin Complex at 2306 Avenue U, are accused of billing Medicare for procedures they never performed dating back as far as January of 2005. The pharmacist allegedly billed for medical equipment that never went to patients between 2007 and 2009. The investigation is handled by the Medicare Fraud Strike Force, a joint effort between the Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Human Services.
