Shake Shack, Triangle Building, Yummy Taco & More Flatbush Avenue News
While some spaces on Flatbush Avenue remain stagnant — including Kemistry and a few vacancies — some spots closer to Barclays are seeing some movement, and a few other storefronts will soon be on the market. Here’s the latest:
• Burger boss Shake Shack will reportedly start construction at 170 Flatbush Avenue this week, with a goal to be open in the “late spring of 2014.” [Brooklyn Eagle]
• Nearby at 208-210 Flatbush, expect a “very successful Manhattan restaurateur” bringing a “Brooklyn-centric” restaurant. [Brooklyn Eagle]
• Landlord Michael Pintchik, who also owns the above spaces, has another space for rent at the 170 Flatbush address, plus one at 236 Flatbush (where a fro-yo shop was supposed to open), and will soon have two more after renovations are complete, at 212 and 214 Flatbush. [Brooklyn Eagle]
• Meanwhile, the old Triangle Sporting Goods building (pictured above) at 182 Flatbush is still on the market, recently listed by a new broker, RFK, which notes that Hooters hasn’t expressed interest lately. [Brooklyn Eagle]
• A plan to tear down the Bergen Tile building at 215 Flatbush and replace it with a 53-unit apartment building was scrapped, but the owners are working on a new plan for a residential building with retail space on the ground floor, which they plan to start marketing later next year. • Yummy Taco has served its last Mexican meal at 245 Flatbush, and will reportedly be moving to Washington Ave in Prospect Heights, leaving yet another spot vacant on Flatbush. [Here’s Park Slope]
