Police Arrest Three Men in Connection to Residential Burglaries

More good news from the 70th Precinct. They tell us that three men have been arrested in connection to several residential burglaries in the 70th and the 61st Precinct, which neighbors us to the south. The men are in custody at the 61st Precinct, and our officers are awaiting further info before they can confirm how many burglaries the men may be suspects in.

Police say the men are connected to a red van that may have been involved in multiple burglaries, which one neighbor noted he’d seen in the area when a house on Westminster Road was burglarized about a month ago.

Though news of these arrests is something of a relief, the 70th reminds neighbors to continue to be cautious.

“This is relatively a very safe neighborhood, but you still have to keep up your guard,” Lieutenant Jacqueline Bourne says. “Please make sure doors and windows are locked.”

Lt. Bourne also urges people to take advantage of their crime prevention survey. Officers from the 70th will look around your house or apartment and make suggestions about what you can do to help prevent break-ins. Contact the Crime Prevention unit at 718-851-5504 for more information.
