Serial Carjacker Caught in Marine Park

At approximately 10 a.m. today, there was a carjacking on East 34th Street and Avenue S. Fortunately, the victim was not injured. Following a long pursuit, the carjacker was caught and arrested by officers from the 63rd Precinct. The perp fits the description of the man responsible for a series of recent carjackings in the 63rd. We are pleased that an arrest was made and appreciate the swift response by the NYPD. My office will ask District Attorney Hynes to prosecute this individual to the fullest extent of the law as police information suggests that the alleged perpetrator is a serial and possibly violent criminal.
