See What’s On The District 38 Participatory Budgeting Ballot & Get Ready To Vote
It’s not just Councilmember Brad Lander who does participatory budgeting — once again, neighbors in Councilmember Carlos Mechaca‘s 38th District will have the opportunity to vote on a number of local projects that will receive a combined $1 million in funding.

Here’s the complete list of projects that are on the ballot:
Electrical Upgrades at PS 295/JHS 220 ($350,000)
Rewiring for air conditioners in the classrooms and main offices of JHS 220 (4812 9th Avenue) and PS 295 (330 18th Street).
PS 10 WiFi Project ($100,000)
Rewiring the Wifi reception on the four floors of PS 10 (511 7th Avenue) and one floor of K290 (500 19th Street) to fix signal problems.
Technology for Schools ($965,000)
Improving access to technology for nine neighborhood schools that serve diverse communities: PS 1, MS 88, PS 676, PS 105, PS 310, PS 69, and New Voices Middle School.
Playground Lighting at PS 503/PS 506 ($400,000)
Install proper lighting to illuminate the school yards at 330 59th Street on weekdays and weekends.
Expansion of Exit Doors at PS 169 ($75,000)
The door expansion on the 44th Street and 7th Avenue entrance will improve safety as students enter and leave the school and improve efficiency in a school with over 1,600 students.
Red Hook WiFi ($200,000)
Installing 50 WiFi devices on the rooftops of Red Hook houses in order to increase the coverage of free internet service to public houses in Red Hook.
Red Hook Library Multimedia Room ($50,000)
Installing a smart board and projector, computers, surround sound speakers, and audio recording equipment in the Red Hook Library (7 Wolcott Street) to provide more resources for better productivity.
Bathroom Renovations at District Schools ($400,000)
The full renovation of the early childhood bathrooms at PS 15 (71 Sullivan Street) and full renovations
of all student and staff bathrooms at PS 94 (5010 6th Avenue) to maintain hygiene of the schools.
New Trees with Tree Guards ($260,000)
Beautify blocks across the district by planting new trees in front of homes, businesses, and parks, along with tree guards.
Grounds and Play Area Upgrade ($500,000)
To create a safer environment for the toddlers and children around in an NYCHA area located between 466 and 450 Columbia Street through the upgrades of equipment and surroundings at the playgrounds.
Fencing in Sunset Park ($500,000)
A four-foot high fence replacement in Sunset Park, on 5th Avenue from 41st to 44th Streets.
Outdoor Fitness Equipment for Sunset Park ($500,000)
To have fitness equipment outside of the Sunset Recreational Center to promote fitness and appeal to people of all fitness levels.
Butterfly Garden Improvements ($450,000)
Improving the conditions of the pavement of Butterfly Garden, located at 7th Avenue and 18th Street, and to install seating areas for safe, educational use for both the students and the neighborhood.
Benches on Path at Sunset Park ($500,000)
Improvements to Sunset Park including repaving and new benches.
Get all the details in person at one of the PB Expos, the first of which will be held in our area on Thursday, April 2 at 6:30pm at MS 88, 544 7th Avenue at 18th Street.
Voting will be held from Saturday, April 11 through Sunday, April 19 at various locations throughout the district, including daily from 7am-8pm at the 25th Street subway station; Monday-Friday from 3-8pm at Uprose at 166a 22nd Street, just off 4th Avenue; throughout the week from 3-7pm at Greenwood Park, 555 7th Avenue; and on weekdays from 2-6pm at Slope Park, on 6th Avenue between 18th and 19th Streets.
All people age 16 and over who can verify that they live in District 38 are eligible to vote.
