See PS 139 Students’ Work On The Ship Of Tolerance From Roosevelt Island On Sunday
If you missed Ilya and Emilia Kabakov’s Ship of Tolerance last week at the DUMBO Arts Festival, here’s another chance to check out the creations of some local students: from 11am-3pm on Sunday, October 6, the ship will be viewable from Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island.
The ship is, according to its website, “a globally celebrated project dedicated to educating and connecting children from different continents, cultures, and identities through the universal language of art” whose sail is made from collaborative designs by students including Morgan Chan, Mehrun Ahmed, Lily Burgess, and Abe Brown of PS 139. While the most recent incarnation of the ship was made from NYC students’ designs, it has previously been in Egypt, Venice, Switzerland, Miami, Cuba, and the United Arab Emirates.
The event will also include an outdoor painting workshop. Stop by, see what Ditmas Park students have been up to, and create some art yourself.
